Abhishek Bachchan Talks About Pay Parity, Says Aishwarya Was Paid More In 8 Out Of The 9 Films They Did Together

Abhishek Bachchan who is back after a sabbatical has signed multiple interesting projects. At a recent interview, the actor spoke about pay parity and revealed that out of the nine films that he has worked on with his wife Aishwarya, she has been paid more.

Abhishek Bachchan who is back after a sabbatical has signed multiple interesting projects. The actor's come back of sorts, 'Manmarziyaan' along with Taapsee Pannu was loved by the audience. Reportedly, the actor has also signed a series of shows on the digital platform and is finally back in action. At a recent event when Abhishek was interviewed about the pressure of being a Bachchan, and his thoughts about the #MeToo storm that hit Bollywood a few weeks back, the actor responded that before he answers them, he would like to give in some context and perspective that the two women who are close to him, which include his mother and wife have worked in the industry in their own terms and that never compromised their morals.. Further talking about pay parity, he revealed that his wife Aishwarya was paid more for the eight out of the nine films that they did together.

Further giving an example of Deepika Padukone's film 'Piku', he discloses that she was the highest paid actor in the film that the entire thing is a business and if a person is a 'saleable' actor, then he/she will get paid accordingly.

On the work front, Abhishek Bachchan, was last seen in ‘Manmarziyaan’ where he starred with 'Pink' actress Taapsee Pannu and 'Masaan' fame Vicky Kaushal for the first time. The film also marks Abhishek's return to the big screen after 2 years. Previously, he was seen in Sajid Nadiadwala's multi-starrer film 'Housefull 3', which released in 2016.

As for, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, she was last seen in ‘Fanney Khan’ alongside Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. In addition to this, it was recently announced that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan are all set to share screen space once again. The couple, who will feature together in a film after a gap of 8 years, will be seen in Anurag Kashyap’s next titled ‘Gulab Jamun’. Abhishek and Aishwarya last starred together in Mani Ratnam's film 'Raavan' (2010).
