After months of speculation over her next venture post the successful 'Padmaavat', Deepika Padukone finally signed Meghna Gulzar's film. The film is based on the life of Laxmi Agarwal, an acid attack survivor. The actress had earlier said in a statement how Laxmi's 'moving' story, which she described as 'strength, courage, hope, and victory,' had a 'massive impact' on her and how it even prompted her to go beyond the creative and turn a producer with the movie. However, till now we didn't know what Laxmi herself has to say about her life being recreated on screen.

The 30-year-old spoke about her feeling about a film being made on her life starring Deepika Padukone, in an interview with a daily. Laxmi said she is happy about Deepika recreating her story in Meghna Gulzar's next, but added that she is not the right person to comment on Deepika's acting abilities as she feels it's something she 'can't do.' However, Laxmi lauded her choice of roles in her career till now, calling them 'wonderful characters' and expressed confidence in the 'Bajirao Mastani' star to give her best and justify the story and the script. She also conveyed her gratefulness to the actress-director duo and the team for taking the decision of making the film.

For the unversed, Laxmi was attacked by a jilted lover when she was just 15. Not one to be disheartened, she showed a lot of courage by speaking about her life story and working towards banning the sale of acids. She also revealed that the deal for her film being adapted for the big screen was signed in 2016. So, it will take three years for the film to hit the theaters as it will most likely release next year.

Since Meghna delivered the Rs 100-crore blockbuster 'Raazi' starring Alia Bhatt, earlier this year, this film with Deepika automatically assumes high expectations. The actress will, in all probability, start shooting for the film after her alleged wedding to beau and three-film co-star Ranveer Singh which is reportedly set to take place in November this year in Italy.
