Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker has always been very vocal about her opinion involving current affairs and social issues in India. She has never shied away from putting her thoughts out on social media. Recently, at a media interaction, the actress made her stand clear on pay equality, that still remains a topic of debate in the country. During the press conference, Bhasker stated that she has been one of the highest paid actors among men and women for some of the projects, that she has worked on. Giving an insight into pay equality in Bollywood, she revealed that the pay completely depends on the number of days an actor works. And so, in a film where the actor is working for 200 days, while the actress works only for 50, it is clear that the former will get paid more.

On being asked if she's ever lost a project because of being outspoken Swara replied, "Thankfully nobody has ever told me that we will not give you work because of your political views, but I have been termed as a big 'troublemaker' and ' nuisance' by some of my friends from the fraternity".

She further confirms saying that she is constantly getting work, but does not blame any of the producers as they are vulnerable and have to bear the costs, in case a film fails to make a mark at the box office.

Earlier, at the same media interaction, the 'Tanu Weds Manu' actress spoke about the ongoing Urban Naxal case which resulted in the arrest of four out of which one was a social activist. Swara further went on to say that she wants freedom for all but also basic, simple, decent conduct in public. She stated that when a police complaint was filed with the term 'Urban Naxal' and when the news channels on the television started using the term, it was quite bizarre and ridiculous. Bhasker also stated that one can only punish a person for a crime he has committed, not for thinking about crime.
