Vivek Oberoi shared a distasteful meme on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in reference to exit polls on Twitter this afternoon soon after which, many celebrities in the likes of Sonam Kapoor and Jwala Gutta slammed the actor for his derogatory post. And now, responding to the 'Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga actress', Oberoi said, "Sometimes people write all this to act cool. I want to ask Sonam that how much have you worked towards women empowerment? In the past ten years, we have saved 2200 children from child prostitution, forced labour and given them free food and clothing. These kids on scholarship have gone to the U.S, UK, Canada and are studying there. This is the kind of work I have done, and it is well documented. It has also been printed in the Forbes magazine."
Further lashing out, he said, "I have been working for women empowerment from the past ten years when Sonam was working on her makeover. So the only thing I want to say is that you are a good girl and I have immense respect for your father but in response to what you have said, I would like to say is that stop 'overacting' in your films, and stop 'overreacting' on social media"
In conclusion, he stated that according to him, his 'creative' meme is not 'harming' or 'hurting' anyone.
Prior to his statement, reacting to Vivek Oberoi's derogatory post, actress Sonam Kapoor who is known to voice her opinion also called it 'disgusting and classless'.
