Despite its historic run at the box office, 'Kabir Singh' is facing flak from audiences for its content, given the fact that it normalizes alcoholism, womanizing, and violence. Recently, Central Board Of Film Certification member and former national secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party, Vani Tripathi Tikoo took to her Twitter handle to slam the makers and Shahid for a rather flawed film in today's time. However, her calling the film, 'Misogynistic' did not go well with many netizens who took to social media to criticize her.

However, hitting back at the trolls, she wrote, "Will stand by take on Misogynistic Cinema and those who eulogise it belong to the tribe! It shows the mindset of the "Patriarchy" we live with! So much for those who shouted about "Freedom of Speech," you have the right to offend, I have the right to feel offended,"

In another post, she wrote that she is receiving 'interesting' tweets and that although she is a CBFC board member, she is allowed her 'objectivity', and is entitled to her opinion. "I've said certification is a sociological process, not a creative one," read an excerpt from her post.
