'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' has been in the news ever since Bollywood actor Sonu Sood decided to walk out of the project, citing date issues. Although him opting out, created quite a bit of controversy, as actress Kangana Ranaut earlier claimed that the main reason Sood opted out of the project was because he refused to work under a woman director. Although, various reports suggest that there is no truth to it, as Sonu had earlier worked with Farah Akhtar on 'Happy New Year' and is said to not have any problem with it. Recently, the buzz is that after actor Sonu Sood, the director of the film, Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi, has decided to leave the project. Reportedly, Kangana's takeover of the project is not a temporary patchwork, but a permanent one. Krish was hired because of his previous experience, as he has directed many blockbusters in Telugu cinema and contributed to historical epics such as ' Gautamiputra Satakarni' and 'Kanche' and so was chosen to direct 'Manikarnika' because of his vast experience but was humiliated and pushed out of the project, if reports are to be believed.

Reportedly, this is not the first time, an incident of sorts has happened on a project that Bollywood actress Kangana has been working on. Earlier, prominent filmmakers, Hansal Mehta and Vishal Bhardwaj had claimed that during the shoot of 'Rangoon', Ranaut decided to muscle her way into the writer and director's chair. Due to which, Bhardwaj discontinued the shooting and gave Kangana an ultimatum to stop interfering with his work, or he would shut down the film. Reportedly, commenting on the film's crisis at hand, a prominent actor from the film stated that Ranaut had no business of stepping in to add her two-bit because it's like theTaj Mahal getting a second-coat which is not needed.

The film is slated to release on January 25, 2019, and will clash with the Emraan Hashmi starrer 'Cheat India'. Earlier, reports stated that Kangana Ranaut starrer 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' will clash with Hrithik Roshan starrer 'Super 30'. However, the makers of the Hrithik Roshan starrer have decided to prepone the release of their film, thus averting a clash with the Kangana Ranaut starrer.
