Veteran Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan who is celebrated for his contribution to Indian Cinema, is quite a sports buff as he keeps taps of all the events going around the world. Recently, he congratulated Indian women's hockey team for their remarkable against Japan in FIH series finals on Monday, June 24.

The actor took to Twitter and extended heartfelt greetings to the Indian team. Sharing a post, celebrating the victory, Big B wrote, "jai ho jai ho jai hind .. congratulations team India .."

It was a ‘Chak De! India’ moment as the Indian Women’s Hockey Team put up a fine performance to not just win the FIH Series Finals tournament, but also qualify for the finals of the Olympics 2020 qualifiers on Sunday. India beat Japan 3-1 on their opponent’s turf at the Hiroshima Hockey Stadium. Drag-flicker Gurjit Kaur’s two goals, in the 45th and 60th minute, turned out to be the difference between the two teams. Captain Rani Rampal had given India an early lead with a goal in the third minute. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated the team for their achievement. Describing the win as ‘stupendous’, PM wrote that the feat would popularise hockey and inspire young girls to excel in the sport. 

Moments after the victory, PM Modi tweeted, “Exceptional game, an excellent outcome! Congratulations to our team for winning the Women's FIH Series Finals hockey tournament. This stupendous victory will further popularise hockey and also inspire many young girls to excel in the sport.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Amitabh Bachchan has quite a number of films in the pipeline for release.
