In a recent interview to a media publication, Johar opened up about the failure and stated that he and director, Abhishek Varman sat down and analyzed where they 'fumbled'. He then went on to hold himself responsible for the film's poor show at the box office and said that it is not just the film's failure, but his too. Taking responsibility, he stated that it was his mistake for not being the governing force and that the entire incident has taught him a lot in terms of being more analytical.

With Rs 150 crores budget, the film failed to touch even Rs 100 crores at the box-office. The reports suggest that on Day 12, the film earned around Rs 77 crores and is no longer running in most of theatres because of Avengers Endgame.

Sonakshi Sinha too reacted to 'Kalank's' dismal box office performance as it fails to touch the Rs 100-crore mark."Every film is important to me. I hope, wish and pray every film does well. It is bad luck that the last couple of films did not work out. But I don't lose hope, I always look forward to do my best," Sonakshi told PTI.
