Ahead of Zero's release, Shah Rukh Khan reveals how he ended up becoming the 'King of romance'

Shah Rukh Khan is one Bollywood actor whose name is synonymous with true stardom. The actor has an amazing global fan following and is fondly called the 'King of romance' by many of his fans. However, it turns out that when he entered showbiz he had some very different plans for himself.

Speaking at an event in Lucknow, King Khan revealed that his entry into the genre of romance was not an easy or natural one. In fact he disclosed he was actually not keen on doing romantic movies when he came into Bollywood and was actually a little scared. SRK confessed that he was actually pushed into the genre by none other than Yash Chopra. Turns out that the late legendary filmmaker and founder of YRF studios told him that if he was to leave a lasting impression in showbiz then he had to do romantic films. Well, Shah Rukh took his advice and the rest, as they say, is history. 

He also talked at length about his struggles during his early days as a celebrity. SRK revealed that he was always practical about his chances in the industry and didn't aspire to be a hero as he knew he didn't have the looks or the dancing skills. He also candidly confessed that there was a point where one director told him that he can use him anywhere since he was ugly and not hero material. Well, it is truly incredible to see his journey from there to becoming one of the most famous actors in the world.

Coming back to his upcoming film, 'Zero' will release this Friday on December 21 and will see him essaying the role of a vertically challenged man Bauua Singh from Meerut. The actor has also talked about his children Aryan Khan and Suhana Khan recently as he said that his son wants to be a filmmaker whereas his daughter wants to be in front of the camera. Although, he was firm as always that before the two got into anything like that they will complete their formal education.
