Despite facing a last minute hurdle, it was announced that Neeraj Pandey's film Aiyaary will release on the 16th of February. The film recently came under scrutiny when The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) asked for the film to be screened for the officials of the Ministry of Defence (MoD). The film revolves around corruption within the army and also digs up the Adarsh Society scam. The Defense ministry asked for some changes to be made. Only after these changes were incorporated, the film was given a green light and granted a U/A certificate.
The Adarsh Housing Society scam unearthed in 2010 were across a period of many years, various politicians, bureaucrats, military officers, etc. conspired to bend rules regarding land ownership, among others to acquire flats at lower rates in the cooperative society located in Mumbai's Colaba area. The film which stars Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee has a reference to a plot in Colaba. Take a look at the leaked clip from the scene in question;
A source close to the development reportedly said that the film takes the lid off many scams, the Adarsh scam is just one of them. “It is integral to the plot,” the source said. When asked about multiple changes reportedly asked for by the MoD, the source said, “The filmmakers were glad they didn’t ask for too many, there were just four minor changes which were carried out to everyone’s satisfaction.”
The espionage thriller, Aiyaary also stars Anupam Kher, Naseeruddin Shah, Rakul Preet Singh, and Pooja Chopra.
