As the countdown to Lok Sabha elections 2019 has begun, the nation is gearing up to cast their vote and elect a new government. With hardly a month left for the Lok Sabha polls to commence in the 29 states and 7 Union Territories, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media, on Wednesday, urging the eminent personalities from the film fraternity to come ahead and 'ensure high voter awareness and participation in the coming elections'.

Responding to PM Narendra Modi's request to aid in increasing the 2019 voter turnout, many Bollywood celebrities in the likes of Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar and musician A. R Rahman hit out replies on Twitter.

Using his film, 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' as a reference, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar replied to PM Narendra Modi's request and wrote: "Well said, PM Modi. The true hallmark of a democracy lies in people's participation in the electoral process. Voting has to be a superhit prem katha between our nation and its voters."

Tagging the Prime Minister, ace-filmmaker too responded saying, "Honourable Prime Minister @narendramodi we as a fraternity are dedicated to the cause of creating high voter awareness and will make sure every endeavour is made to communicate the power of voting for a solid and Democratic INDIA! Jai Hind!" 

Musician and Oscar winner A.R Rahman also hit out a polite reply to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Meanwhile, apart from this, PM Narendra Modi also shared 'Four requests for Democracy' wherein he appealed to the eligible young voters to register for voting and encouraged people to spread awareness about the importance of voting in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
