He started 2019 with a bang where he was seen in the period movie Kesari. He played the role of Havildar Ishar Singh in the story of the battle that happened at Saragarhi in 1897. In the movie, He leads an army of 21 Sikhs who fought against 10,000 Afghans. This started the success streak of the star.

Later, he was seen in a cameo role in B Praak & Arko's Ali Ali which was a song in the Sunny Deol movie Blank. He was seen in the movie Mission Mangal as Rakesh Dhawan, a chief scientist in the M.O.M. of ISRO. The movie was a hit at the box office and was one of the most loved movies of this year. After the success of Mission Mangal, Akshay was seen in the movie Housefull 4.

Among the Housefull franchise, the producers explored the genre of reincarnation for the first time in the fourth installment. Housefull 4 was a comedy movie set during 1419 and the present in 2019. The film features an ensemble cast of Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Bobby Deol, Kriti Sanon, Kriti Kharbanda, Pooja Hegde, Chunky Panday, Johnny Lever, Rana Dagubatti, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. This movie also was a super hit at the box office. The movie reportedly earned around ₹ 224 crores in India.

He also announced that he will be seen in Bell Bottom where he will be playing a spy. This movie will be set in the 1980s.
