Akshay Kumar does it once again! Karan Johar produced 'Kesari' has literally set the box-office on fire as the film collects Rs. 21.50 crores on the opening day, making it the highest opener of 2019 after Zoya Akhtar's 'Gully Boy'.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter account and shared the numbers. He also stated that 'Kesari' is Akshay Kumar's second biggest opener after 'Gold', which collected Rs. 25.25 crore. He wrote: "#Kesari roars... Sets the BO on 🔥🔥🔥... Emerges the biggest opener of 2019 [so far]... After limited shows in morning/noon [#Holi festivities], the biz witnessed massive growth from 3 pm/4 pm onwards... Evening shows saw terrific occupancy... Thu ₹ 21.50 cr. India biz." [sic]

He also added: "Top *Opening Day* biz - 2019...

"Kesari" is based on the Battle of Saragarhi fought between the British Indian army's Sikh Regiment comprising of 21 soldiers and 10,000 Afghan tribesmen in 1897. 

Apart from Akshay, the film also features Parineeti Chopra, Mir Sarwar, Vansh Bhardwaj and Ashwath Bhatt among others in pivotal roles.

Based on the legend of the Battle of Saragarhi of 1897, is co-written by Girish Kohli and Anurag Singh, the film has been produced by Johar’s Dharma Productions, Cape of Good Films and Azure Entertainment.
