Akshay Kumar: What persuaded Khiladi Kumar to change his name

Akshay Kumar is a popular Bollywood actor, who has been working in movies for about two decades. He started his journey with Raj Sippy's Saugandh in 1991 and went on to work in movies like Mohra, Suhaag, Mr. & Mrs. Khiladi, among others. As the actor is gearing up for his new movie, Housefull 4. How Rajiv Bhati decided on his screen name: Akshay Kumar

All Bollywood Buffs are familiar with the fact that Akshay Kumar had a different name before debuting in Bollywood. The actor was named Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia. Reportedly, the actor decided to change his name while shooting for his first movie- Aaj. Directed by Mahesh Bhatt, the movie featured Kumar Gaurav in the lead. Akshay played a small part in the movie, which he describes as a four-second role. But the small role helped him find his new name- Akshay, which was co-incidentally Kumar Gaurav's character name in the film. The actor vividly remembers how Kumar Gaurav's character name in Aaj, persuaded him to change his name to Akshay. The actor immediately went to the Bandra court and changed his name.

On the professional front, the actor is preparing to tickle the funny bones of the audience with his new movie, Housefull 4. The movie is a reincarnation drama, directed by Farhad Samji. The movie, starring Akshay Kumar, Ritesh Deshmukh, Bobby Deol, Kriti Sanon, Pooja Hegde, among others is awaiting release on October 25, 2019.
