Arguably one of the fittest actors in Bollywood today, Akshay Kumar has been always been vocal about the importance of keeping fit and healthy. Apart from spreading awareness about the cause amongst his fans; he has also been working on social issues which trouble the country or humanity in general. Akshay has worked towards such causes both on-screen and off-screen. Here are those instances which saw the actor win hearts with his generosity.

Akshay Kumar's on-screen and off-screen social work

Spreading awareness about using sanitary napkins:

Akshay's 2018 movie Padman harped on the message of women requiring to use sanitary napkins during menstruation despite it being a social taboo. The film is based on the life of Indian social entrepreneur Arunachalam Muruganantham and is a massive hit at the box office too.

Talking about the usage of toilets for sanitation:

In his 2017 release Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Akshay is seen fighting a major social issue: Lack of toilets in rural areas in India which encourage open defecation and causes immense stress to women. The film continues to be remembered a lot by the audience and is another box office success.

When he Donated 9 Lakhs to the families of 12 CRPF Jawans martyred in Sukma:

In March 2017, Akshay Kumar donated ₹ 9 Lakhs each to the families of the CRPF Jawans martyred in a Naxalite ambush near Chhatisgarh. While Akshay had the resources to reach out to the Union Ministry and gather the required details, other donors did not. It was after this instance that Akshay Kumar began to think about the Bharat Ke Veer app and website.

Launching the Bharat Ke Veer app and website:

Akshay Kumar has always donated generously to Indian soldiers and their families. As an avid philanthropist, Akshay was quick to realise that a lot of Indians like him wish to contribute to the cause as well but end up losing their money to fraudsters who never let the donations reach the Army. This led him to launch the app Bharat Ke Veer as well as its website, which will help donors directly connect to the families of the martyred soldiers.

Helped to establish a special insurance scheme for Stuntmen and Stuntwomen:

Through an open letter one year ago, Akshay opened up about the adverse situation of the stuntmen and stuntwomen in India. With the help of the renowned surgeon Dr Ramakant Panda, he devised a special insurance scheme for 380 stuntmen and stuntwomen in the film industry.

The Soil Health Card Initiative:

Akshay Kumar's Soil Health Card Initiative tries to emphasize to farmers, the importance to find out the health of the soil before farming every two years.
