Student of the Year (2012)

This movie marks the debut of Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. The film was based on a group of students who compete within various fields to become the best student of the year and win scholarships and a trophy. The movie also shows friendships, bonding with parents and other challenges young boys and girls face. The movie was well-received by the audience and critics.

Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014)

This movie starring the duo was a super hit at the box office. A young girl from Ambala, Kavya Pratap Singh (played by Alia), is about to get married to an NRI. She visits Delhi to shop for her perfect wedding trousseau. There she meets a boy, Humpty Sharma (played by Varun), a carefree Delhi local. Humpty gets attracted to Kavya and wants to befriend her. But she does not seem to be interested. It is a romantic comedy filled with drama. In the movie, it is shown how Humpty constantly tries to win Kavya’s heart over, ultimately succeeding to do so.

Badrinath ki Dulhania (2017)

A sequel to Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, this movie, starring Alia and Varun together for the third time, was another super hit at the box office. The romantic comedy filled with drama is the story of an affluent boy Badri who falls in love with Vaidehi, played by Alia. While Badri only wants to get married to her, Vaidehi wants to pursue her dream of becoming an air hostess. The movie was well-received by the audience and critics as well.

Kalank (2019)

Kalank is a period drama film that revolves around the lives of six people interlinked with each other. Alia and Varun have paired once again in this film. In the movie, Varun is seen as someone who wanted to take revenge from the family of his father as he and his mother were abandoned by his father. Varun plots to make Alia’s character, who is married to his stepbrother, fall in love with him, just so that he could defame them. Kalank was a big-budget movie which tanked at the box office.
