Ameesha Patel reacts to arrest warrant, says someone 'maligning' her

After an arrest warrant was issued against Ameesha Patel for allegedly duping a film producer of Rs 3 crore, the actor said someone was trying to malign her name. Terming the allegations against her as ‘false’, she accused the said person of seeking ‘fame’ through ‘public sensationalism’. She said that she will take legal recourse to clear her name. She also stated that she wanted to be ‘silent’ over this case, but the concern of the fans made her put out a clarification.

Taking to Twitter on Sunday, Ameesha Patel stated, “It has been bought to my notice that A certain individual is trying to malign my name and harm my reputation with false allegations purely for seeking self fame by creating public sensationalism. Such actions will be appropriately responded through our legal system. which I hold in highest esteem. I chose to be silent for a while but the concern shared by my fans makes me put this out. My advice to such attention seekers. Go get a life.” (sic)

On Saturday, a Ranchi court issued an arrest warrant against the Gadar actor over the cheating case. Ameesha has been accused of fraud after she allegedly failed to repay a loan of Rs 3 crore to producer Ajay Kumar Singh. She had allegedly taken the loan to make her film Desi Magic a few years ago. Ameesha, apart from failing to repay the loan, handed them a post-dated cheque that got dishonoured by the bank, Ajay Kumar Singh’s lawyer said. After the producer filed the case, the court issued summons to her multiple times, but she allegedly didn’t make an appearance in the court even once. As per information available, the police reached Mumbai with the arrest warrant on Saturday.

Desi Magic  

Desi Magic is a film that had gone on floors in 2013, but is yet to see the light of the day. The movie features Ameesha in the lead role, in fact, it is a double role. Several teasers of the movie were also unveiled in the past few years. Along with Ameesha, Zayed Khan and Esha Deol are also a part of the film.
