The Me Too movement has brought about a major revolution in the Hindi Film industry, a lot of victims have come forward and opened up about their predators. In the wake of the ongoing movement, recently, sexual harassment charges were levelled against casting directors Mukesh Chhabra and Vicky Sidana. One of the four women who accused Mukesh of sexual misconduct was quoted as saying that he grabbed her hand and felt her upon in the name of showing her how a scene needed to be done.
Tess Joseph, who was the co-panelist for the session at India Film Project announced on social media that she spoke to the team at India Film Project and casting director Mukesh Chhabra has been replaced with another film professional. She stated that he will no longer be on the panel and that Team TJC supports and stands by #MeToo.
Mukesh Chabbra, however, denied all such allegations in a post on Twitter. He stated that it is unfortunate that all his hard work has been muzzled with a series of anonymous allegations. He further stated that the complaint should have first been sent to an ICC committee for investigation. In light of the accusations, the director was immediately replaced by another film professional from the India Film Project.
The Me Too movement was the domino effect of Tanushree Dutta's allegations against Nana Patekar. She accused the veteran actor of alleged misconduct on the sets of the 2008 film 'Horn OK Pleassss' while filming for a song sequence. The former actress recently filed a complaint against Nana Patekar, and ever since her accusations against him, victims from all over the country have come forward to expose their exploiters.
