Kangana Ranaut's 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' began its journey tackling with controversies just like Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus 'Padmaavat'. From being accused of distorting history to the entire episode of Sonu Sood walking out of the film to Ranaut being vested with a new responsibility. The actress now has the dual role of essaying the titular role and that of directing the film, after Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi (also known as Krish) made an exit. But guess who's happy with the new captain of the ship, it's none other than the 'Queen' actress' co-star, Ankita Lokhande.

The television actress, who will be embarking on her filmy journey with this period drama strongly endorsed Kangana Ranaut as her ‘new captain’ and is extremely elated to be shooting for the first song of the film. Ankita plays the character Jhalkari Bai, a trusted aide of the Queen of Jhansi, Laxmi Bai and plays an important character in binding the movie together.

The actress who was last seen in television serial 'Pavitra Rishta' took to Twitter to share how elated she was and wrote, "I feel my feet lighter. Rehersing for my first bollywood song with @ganeshacharyaa and our new captain @team_kangana_ranaut Super excited to be part of it as #jhalkaribai Much much gratitude @KamalJain_TheKJ @zeestudiosofficial #manikarnika #releasingon25thjan"

According to reports, when the makers of 'Manikarnika: The Quen of Jhansi' saw the rough cut of the film, they were upset and hence asked Kangana to take over. The actress was given the option of taking on as a director or letting the project be shelved. She agreed and decided to lead the team, though the producers had the choice to get a new director on board, they didn’t as they had faith in Kangana and her dedication to the project.

The action director Nick Powell too had been called back to reshoot certain portions of the film, the patchwork has been going on smoothly. The film is scheduled to release on January 25, 2019.
