Ayushmann Khurrana is gearing up for the release of his next film, Bala. The film also stars Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam in lead roles. Bala is being directed by Stree director Amar Kaushik. It is slated to hit theatres on November 7, 2019. Bala is a satirical take on premature balding among young people. Here are some of the other movies by Ayushmann Khurrana that highlighted socially relevant issues.

1. Vicky Donor (2012)

Ayushmann Khurrana made a brave move by debuting with Shoojit Sircar’s Vicky Donor. The film was one of the initial films to deal with female infertility and sperm donation. He attempted to bring the society’s attention to the issue at a time when no mainstream actor dared to do so. The film proved to be highly successful. It also won three National Awards. Ayushmann also won the Filmfare Award for the Best Male Debut.

2. Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015)

Before Dum Laga Ke Haisha released, Ayuhsmann Khurrana had a spree of commercially unsuccessful films and hence he tried to create magic with this film. The film was based on the topic of body-shaming and unachievable beauty standards in India. The film also gave Bollywood another versatile actor, Bhumi Pednekar. The film hit the right chord with the audience and the cast was lauded for their exceptional performances.

3. Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017)

With Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Ayushmann Khurrana played the role of a man with erectile dysfunction. For a society where such issues are barely discussed, it was a tough call for him to act in such a film at the peak of his career. The film was surprisingly a huge hit at the box office. A sequel to the film is also in the making.

4. Article 15 (2019)                                                

Anubhav Sinha’s Article 15 starring Ayushmann Khurrana dealt with caste discrimination and untouchability. It was inspired by true events based on Article 15 of the Indian Constitution that prohibits discrimination on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex, or place of birth. The film was largely based on the 2014 Badaun gang-rape allegations and 2016 Una flogging incident.
