Ayushmann Khurrana Responds To PM Modi's Appeal To Encourage Voting In 2019 Elections, Says 'is The Duty Of Every Public Figure To Spread This Awareness'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media, on Wednesday, urging the eminent personalities from the film fraternity to come ahead and 'ensure high voter awareness and participation in the coming elections'.

With just a month left, the countdown to Lok Sabha elections 2019 has begun and the nation is gearing to cast their vote to elect a new government. The Lok Sabha polls will commence in the 29 states and 7 Union Territories, and to encourage voting in 2019 elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media, on Wednesday, urging the eminent personalities from the film fraternity to come ahead and 'ensure high voter awareness and participation in the coming elections'. 

Taking a reference from Ayushmann's film, PM Modi tweeted: "Dear @akshaykumar, @bhumipednekar and @ayushmannk, 

The power of a vote is immense and we all need to improve awareness on its importance. 
Thoda Dum Lagaiye aur Voting ko Ek Superhit Katha banaiye."

To which the 'Andhadun' actor replied saying: "Honourable PM @narendramodi ji, as aware citizens and opinion leaders it is the duty of every public figure to spread this awareness. We need to vote in maximum numbers and restore faith in the world’s largest democracy. Jai Hind." [sic]

PM Narendra Modi has also requested other Bollywood members in the likes of Deepika Padukone, Vicky Kaushal, Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Anushka Sharma, Ranveer Singh, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and more to encourage a large 2019 election voter turnout.

The Election Commission on Sunday announced the dates of General Elections 2019. The nation will go into polls in seven phases beginning from April 11 till May 19. The counting of votes for all the states is scheduled to take place on May 23. 

Meanwhile, apart from this, PM Narendra Modi also shared 'Four requests for Democracy' wherein he appealed to the eligible young voters to register for voting and encouraged people to spread awareness about the importance of voting in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

His four requests to the citizens of the country include: 

  1. Register now 
  2. Check thoroughly 
  3. Plan well 
  4. Mobilise others 

The “four requests”, as put out by PM Modi, are for the eligible voters to get themselves registered, make sure their names figure in the list of electoral rolls, plan their voting schedule to make sure they use franchise and to mobilise friends and families to vote in large numbers.
