Ali Abbas Zafar’s upcoming film ‘Bharat’ starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead has been in news lately for its cast and its ongoing shoot. The film was meant to be Priyanka Chopra’s first Bollywood film after two years. However, the actress walked out of the film and a lot was consequently spoken about the film. At that time it was reported that Priyanka backed out as she got engaged to Nick Jonas and is planning to get married soon. On August 18, the actress made her engagement official, after getting engaged as per India traditions.
Meanwhile, Priyanka was quickly replaced by Katrina Kaif, not causing any delay in the shoot of the film. The first schedule of the film was shot in Mumbai and the crew is currently in Malta to shoot the second schedule of the film.
The director Ali Abbas Zafar has been putting constant updates about the film and was the first to announce about Priyanka backing out of the film. ‘Bharat’ is his third film with actor Salman Khan. They first worked together in ‘Sultan’(2016) followed by ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ in 2017. Both the films did exceptionally well at the box office.
In an an interview with a news daily, the director spoke in length about working with Salman Khan again.
After Priyanka walked out of the film, there were rumours that Salman Khan and the director were mad at the actress. He rubbished the rumours and said that people will talk about such things because they know it will snowball into a big story. The director said that a lot is being written about the film, even the fact that he shot a song with twenty dancers or five hundred dancers becomes news. He added that every time an actress moves out of a film either due to professional or personal commitment, it becomes a big story.
Talking about his relationship with Salman Khan he said that it his third film with the actor and his relationship with Salman is like that of a younger brother. He also said that Salman lets him take his decisions when it comes to casting. However, he added that he shares his thoughts with him because of the sheer experience that he comes with and cross check things with the ‘Dabangg' star. Ali added that he listens to Salman, but the final call is always his.
The director also said that they are not so shallow that they will be angry with someone or term them unprofessional. He said that the stories doing the round are completely baseless and is being spread based on interpretations. He concluded by saying that there is no bad blood between them.
The film also stars Tabu, Disha Patani and Sunil Grover and is slated to release on Eid 2019.
