It was recently announced that four Indian films have been selected for Bucheon International Film Festival 2019. These include Vijay Sethupathi and Samantha Akkineni starrer 'Super Deluxe', Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt's 'Gully Boy', Ayushmann Khurrana and Tabu starrer 'Andhadhun' and Kangana Ranaut's 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi'. Kangana's sister Rangoli Chandel tweeted about it by writing, "Manikarnika will live on".
Speaking to a media publication, Kangana Ranaut opened up about her film's nomination and stated that she is quite thrilled with the development, especially because the entire industry kept talking about 'Gully Boy', and there was no word of mouth on 'Manikarnika', Claiming that the 'movie mafia' tried to kill the film, she remarked that she is elated due to the recognition and believes that this is a big slap on the mainstream Bollywood industry.
'Manikarnika' was one of the most anticipated films of 2019, and the period drama is based on the life and struggles of Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi and her war against the British East India Company, during the Indian Rebellion of 1857. Apart from Kangana Ranaut the film also stars Atul Kulkarni, Suresh Oberoi, Danny Demzongpa, Jisshu Sengupta and Ankita Lokhande, in pivotal roles.
Next, the actress will be seen in 'Mental Hai Kya' alongside Rajkummar Rao. A while back, the film was making headlines as The Indian Psychiatric Society had filed an official complaint to Prasoon Joshi, chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) demanding a change in the title. The committee further wrote, "We take serious objections to the title of the movie which is discriminative, stigmatising, degrading, inhumane in projecting mental disorders and people who suffer from mental disorders."
