BJP MLA Ram Kadam Receives Backlash For Incorrect Tweet On Actress Sonali Bendre's Demise

  • He deleted the tweet and then rectified the mistake after receiving major backlash on Twitter

BJP MLA Ram Kadam on Friday tweeted out that Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre had passed away in the United States of America. The politician received major backlash for spreading the fake news about the demise of a public figure who is very much alive.

Sonali Bendre, who is diagnosed with cancer, is currently undergoing treatment in  New York, United States Of America. The actress has been keeping her fans posted about her health update through her social media, by frequently uploading her latest pictures. When she had revealed her cancer, she had promised that she will let everyone be a part of her journey.

The MLA, however, pulled down the tweet after realizing that there is no truth to the statement. He later tweeted “About Sonali Bendre Ji It was rumour. Since last two days .. I pray to God for her good health & speedy recovery"

Interestingly enough, on the same day, Sonali Bendre posted a cheerful picture of herself while holding a book, to give out a message on 'Read A Book Day'. 


A few days ago, MLA Ram Kadam had made headlines for a controversial statement he made during  Janmashtami celebrations in Mumbai. In a video of his speech, he was heard saying that youngsters often seek his help after girls reject their proposals. He said that if a girl rejects a proposal from a boy and the family of the boy is willing to get them married, he will help them kidnap the girl. This statement created an uproar. Initially, when Republic TV confronted Ram Kadam over his remark, he remained unapologetic, claiming that his statement was misunderstood and said that he never said those words. he never said those words. The MLA who refused to apologize blamed the opposition parties for making an issue out of something which was actually a non-issue. However, on Friday, he finally apologised for his insensitive remarks against women.
