Bollywood is a major Indian entertainment industry filled with social influencers. The members of the industry are therefore under the scanner of the media, largely owing to their magnificent fan following. So, it does not come as a surprise when  Bollywood as a whole gets criticised or slammed for their actions by people.

Earlier this year, Bollywood had rallied for the justice of the 8-year-old victim of the Kathua rape case. They were however slammed and trolled by several for being selective about their fight for justice.

Swara Bhasker, who speaks her mind unfiltered was also a part of the rally. During a press conference, the actress said that the industry is constantly under attack, from Karan Johar having to apologize for casting a Pakistani actor, from films getting banned, the recent ban on the film 'Padmaavat', among others. Swara personally feels that she never felt the pressure to not do something or been victimised for voicing her political views.

Swara Bhasker uses her social media account to voice her opinion on several pressing issues of the nation and never shied away from speaking thoughts, despite all the trolls and hateful comments that come her way.

Post the release of the much controversial film ‘Padmaavat’, Swara Bhasker had penned an open letter to the director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. In the letter, she had well expressed her opinion towards the film, especially the Jauhar scene, which she felt after watching ‘reduced her to a vagina’. Talking about the letter, she said that there were several actresses who praised her, while some raised their concern to her about the timing of the letter.

Swara has on several occasions voiced her opinion on the decisions made by the Government as well. The ‘Raanjhaana’ actress said that Hollywood has a constitution where a government has an opinion and the entire nation stands by it and backs it. She added that we do not have that kind of a system in our nation as our government doesn't care. The actress further said that  Meryl Streep can openly criticise the president-elect of her country, can anybody in our country do that?
