Box office: Here are the Bollywood movies that clashed this year

Box office has seen multiple Bollywood films clash in the year 2019. Some have managed to hit the bulls eye, while the others have missed the sweet spot

The year 2019 has been a mixed bag for the Hindi film industry. On the one hand, content-heavy films such as Uri: The Surgical Strike, Dream Girl, Chhichhore and many others won critical acclaim and achieved commercial success, while on the other hand, Bollywood also witnessed the release of numerous sequels. Some of the most popular films released this year clashed at the box-office together.

1. Luka Chuppi vs Sonchiriya

Luka Chuppi is a romantic-comedy starring Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon and directed by Laxman Utekar. Sonchiriya is an action film co-written and directed by Abhishek Chaubey and starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Bhumi Pednekar, Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey and Ashutosh Rana. Both of the films clashed at the box office on March 1. While the former emerged as a box office success, the latter emerged received critical acclaim. 

2. Judgementall Hai Kya vs Arjun Patiala

Judgementall Hai Kya is a black comedy directed by Prakash Kovelamudi and features Rajkummar Rao and Kangana Ranaut. Arjun Patiala is an action-comedy directed by Rohit Jugraj and stars Diljit Dosanjh, Kriti Sanon and Varun Sharma. Both of the films clashed at the box office on July 26. While the former did good business at the box office, the latter did not perform as well at the box office.

3. Mission Mangal vs Batla House

This year, two big-budget films released on Independence Day. Akshay Kumar's Mission Mangal is based on the successful Mars Orbiter Mission, while John Abraham's Batla House is based on the 2008 Batla House encounter. Both of the films emerged as box office successes, with Mission Mangal emerging as one of the highest-grossing films of 2019. 

4. Housefull 4 vs Saand Ki Aankh vs Made In China

Diwali 2019 witnessed the release of three big films. Each of these films catered to different sets of audiences. Of the three films, Housefull 4 emerged as one of the highest-grossing films of 2019.

5. Panipat vs Pati Patni Aur Woh

December 6, 2019, will see another big-budget box office clash. Arjun Kapoor's epic historical drama, Panipat, will clash with Kartik Aaryan's romantic comedy, Pati Patni Aur Woh. Both of the films are eagerly anticipated by filmgoers and are expected to emerge as box office hits.
