Setting the record straight, CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi issued a statement amid criticism over 'PM Narendra Modi' Biopic and clarified the 68-day minimum theory. He said, "I am surprised by the irresponsible statements that are being made regarding CBFC. Facts should be checked before making such allegations. Let me bring the focus back on facts".

Stating that the film is yet to be certified as per the requisite guidelines, he asserted, "We had already stated that the film is yet to be certified and is in the process of certification as per the requisite guidelines"

Further elaborating he said, "The period of 68 days is the maximum period within which CBFC have to certify films, however, most of the Films, including regional films, are actually certified in a much shorter time than this"

"Therefore, the impression that is being attempted that every film should take minimum 68 days for its certification, is absolutely false and contrary to the basic nature of our organisation, which is expected to facilitate industry within the checks and balances as per the statutory guidelines", he added.

Meanwhile, the makers have announced a release date of the film, which is April 11.

As the makers describe: 'PM Narendra Modi' " It is the inspiring saga of a man, a politician, a leader and a Visionary". They reveal that the film "covers his 64 - year epic journey, from abject poverty, selling tea on a railway station as a chaiwallah (tea seller) to becoming the Leader of the world’s largest democracy!" and identify it as "the shining symbol of the victory of a common man".

The biopic is directed by Omung Kumar, who has previously helmed some critically acclaimed biopic films including 'Mary Kom' and 'Sarbjit'. It will be produced by Suresh Oberoi and Sandip SSingh under the banner of Legend Global Studio and is all set to hit the theatres on April 5, 2019.
