Chhichhore: Sushant Singh Rajput-Shraddha Kapoor film hits milestone

Let there be War, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, Joker or Dream Girl, Nitesh Tiwari’s Chhichhore has been unaffected. The Sushant Singh Rajput-Shraddha Kapoor-starrer is continuing its impressive run at the box office, and it has now achieved another milestone. The movie has now gone on to hit the Rs 150-crore mark at the ticket windows, proving how almost unanimously it is being loved by the audiences. In the process, trade experts have termed it a ‘blockbuster’.

Chhichhore continues fine run 

After minting Rs 15.30 crore in the fourth week of its release, Chhichhore had a good fifth weekend as well as it earned close to Rs 1.50 crore. The tally took the collections past the Rs 150-crore mark. As per Trade analyst Taran Adarsh, who tweeted the figures, Chhichhore is a 'blockbuster' and its success proved all the ‘calculations and estimations’ wrong.

"#Chhichhore proves all calculations and estimations wrong as it cruises past ₹ 150 cr... One of the biggest success stories of 2019... [Week 5] Fri 27 lakhs, Sat 54 lakhs, Sun 72 lakhs. Total: ₹ 150.36 cr. #India biz,” Taran Adarsh tweeted on Monday. 

The movie earned Rs 68.83 crore in the first week, Rs 40.47 crore in the second,  Rs 24.23 crore in the third, Rs 15.30 crore in the fourth and Rs 1.53 crore in the fifth weekend. 

The movie marks back-to-back successes for Nitesh Tiwari, who had previously delivered the blockbuster Dangal, which earned over Rs 1000 crore worldwide.

Even for Sushant, the hit comes at the right time after the debacle of Sonchiriya. It is also his highest-grossing film of all time, beating MS Dhoni: The Untold Story which had earned around Rs 135 crore in India.For Shraddha, though Saaho didn’t live up to expectations, this is another film that has minted moolah for her.

Apart from Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor, Chhichhore also stars Varun Sharma, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Prateik Babbar, among others. The movie is a campus drama that showcases the bond between friends, from youth until the time they grow old.  

Varun Sharma’s character of Sexa is particularly finding intense fan attention. The movie was produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and distributed by Fox Star Studios.
