Just ahead of the release of S Shankar's '2.0', the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) have reportedly launched a complaint against the film for promoting "obscurantist and anti-scientific attitudes toward the mobile phone, towers and mobile services."

As per media reports, the organization has written a letter to the Central Board of Film Certification and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting seeking a re-examination of the film, its trailer and teaser.

In the statement, the organization reportedly said that COAI is "deeply concerned that the movie titled '2.0' including its trailer, teaser and other promotional videos falsely depicts mobile phones and mobile towers as harmful to living creatures and the environment including birds and human beings, on account of electromagnetic field emission from them."
