Ranveer Singh who will be next seen in 'Simmba' has an exciting lineup of films in 2019. One of them is the historical epic 'Takht', which will be helmed by Karan Johar. The film also stars Vicky Kaushal, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar and Anil Kapoor and ever since it was announced, the hype for it has been building up. Now, Ranveer has spilt the beans on what the film is about.
At News 18's Actor's Roundtable Conference, which was attended by both him and Vicky, the details about their characters surfaced. It came to light that the 'Simmba' actor will be essaying the role of Dara Shikoh and Vicky will be playing Aurangzeb. For those unaware of history, both were sons of the famous Mughal ruler Shah Jahan and Dara Shikoh, who was his firstborn was the favoured successor. Hence, 'Takht' is the story of the bitter rivalry between the two brothers as they fight for the Mughal throne. With a story of this magnitude, the anticipation for the film is only bound to increase. The nature of characters of the other actors still remains a mystery, although a few rumours have surfaced. Apparently, Kareena will be playing Jahanara, the sister of Dara and Aurangzeb, Alia will be playing the wife of the elder son and Bhumi will be playing the wife of the younger. As for Janhvi, she will be essaying the role of a slave girl. However, it remains to be seen if any of this holds true when the actual details emerge.
Meanwhile, both Ranveer and Vicky have a lot to look forward to even before they get to 'Takht'. While the former has 'Gully Boy' coming out followed by the shoot for the Kapil Dev biopic '83', the latter has 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' coming out in January next year.
