Dara Singh Randhawa, popularly known as Dara Singh was an Indian professional wrestler, actor and a politician. He was born in Punjab and was a sportsman before he shifted his career to acting. He began his career in acting in the year 1952 and was India’s first sportsman to be elected as the member of the Rajya Sabha.

Apart from acting, Dara Singh worked as a film producer, writer and director. He has acted in many films and television series. Dara Singh gained popularity after his role of Hanuman in the film Bajrangi which released in1976. Dara Singh made his debut in Bollywood in 1952 with the movie Sangdil and the last Hindi film he acted in before he died, was Jab We Met. Dara Singh has acted over 50 Hindi, Punjabi and Tamil and Malayalam films altogether. Here’s a list of some of his films:

Dara Singh has directed many films, some of the films he directed were Nanak Dukhiya Sub Sansar, Mera Desh Mera Dharam, Bhagat DHanna Jatt, Sawa Lakh se Ek Ladaun, Dhyanu Bhagat, Bhakti Mein Shakti and Rustom. He even produced films, Bhakti Mein Shakti and Karan.

Apart from being a successful actor, Dara Singh has also been a world champion in wrestling, He won the WWWA World Heavyweight Championship and even won an award in Commonwealth Championship and World Wrestling Championship. With over 9 championships he made his way to the WWE Hall of Fame for Class of 2018. Dara Singh joined politics in 1998 and served as a member of the Rajya sabha between 2003 and 2009.
