Actor Deepika Padukone has confirmed that she is safe after a fire broke out in the high-rise building where she resides.
Taking to Twitter, the Padmaavat star has written:
"I am safe. Thank You everyone. Let us pray for our firefighters who are at site risking their lives."
As per Republic TV sources, Deepika Padukone lives in a flat in the same building in which the fire has broken out, but at least a few floors lower down. The fire has broken out on the 32nd and 33rd floors at the very top of the B-wing of the Beau Monde complex.
Deepika Padukone hasn't forgotten to spare a thought about the firefighters who have been combatting the blaze for almost three hours now.
The first report of the fire had been received at approximately 2:08 pm. At least ten fire-tenders, two hydraulic platforms and six jumbo tankers rushed to the spot. They faced trouble with accessing the complex, the height of the blaze, and also, the falling glass and assorted debris. An attempt was also made to sprinkle water from the adjoining building. Almost 95 persons were evacuated from the building and there are no reports of casualties at the time of publishing.
Even as the fire rages, the Shiv Sena has politicised the matter asking how the BMC commissioner gave an NOC to the building if the Fire Department didn't have the essential accouterments to douse a fire at such a height.
