Deepika Padukone recently opened up about her struggle with depression. Although she has been vocal about the same on various occasions, in a recent interview with a magazine she said that it was a 'struggle every second'. Meting out further details, the 'Padmaavat' actress stated that she felt exhausted all the time.
Deepika then went on to mention about Salman Khan's take on depression saying that a male actor previously had said that he does not have the luxury of being depressed and that people sometimes confuse it with being a bit sad. For the uninitiated, the 'Dabangg' actor in an interview had said, "I see a lot of people going on vacations, but I cannot afford that luxury of taking a vacation. I see a lot of people getting depressed and emotional, but I can't afford that luxury of being depressed or sad or emotional because no matter what I am going through, it works against me."
Deepika Padukone has always been pretty open about issues surrounding mental health. She was one of the first celebrities in India who openly admitted that she went through depression and her struggles to stay afloat during the challenging times. A few months back, the actress attended the Anxiety Youth Centre dinner held by the Presbyterian Hospital in New York where she spoke about her experience fighting depression and anxiety. In a recent video shared by her Mental Health Awareness initiative, The Live Laugh Love Foundation, on Instagram the actress can be seen meeting and greeting a range of Hollywood celebrities and Vogue chief Anna Wintour who invited her to the event.
On the work front, Deepika Padukone will be seen sharing screen space for the first time with Vikrant Massey in 'Chhpaak'. The film revolves around Laxmi Agarwal, who is an acid-attack survivour.
Deepika's first look as Laxmi Agarwal was unveiled on March 25. Revealing her look from the film, the actor had posted a picture on her Instagram and the resemblance was uncanny! Deepika's character will be called 'Malti' and she looked absolutely unrecognisable in the first look. Apart from the amazing prosthetics, it's the intensity in the actor's eyes that wins you over. The "Piku" actor effortlessly emotes the undying human spirit and determination of the survivor in the picture.
