Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte visited India to meet Indian counterpart Narendra Modi and address bilateral issues earlier this week. And with Ranveer and Deepika set to tie the knot soon in Italy reportedly, the Italian PM was asked about the Bollywood celebrities choosing Italy as the destination for their weddings in an interview with India Today.

Conte, however, ducked the question without mentioning the specifics and replied saying he believes that the celebrities seem to have fallen in love with countryside villages, which he said were rich in tradition. Moreover, praising the cities, he credited the ‘smiling’ locals of the country. Mentioning the Grand Tour, popular right from the 18th century, millenary culture, fashion, design, cinema and gastronomy as the major reasons for being the factors to pull in the visitors, he called his country as an ‘extraordinary destination.’

He also compared the mountains of Italy to the Himalayas, another of the reasons for the flow of visitors. He concluded by asserting that it was not a surprise that people would want to ‘spend the best days' of their lives in a ‘heavenly scenario.’
