Although Bhumi Pednekar's duration in Bollywood has been merely three years, her career graph has seen a rapid surge. The actress has managed to bag path-breaking roles right from her debut film, 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha', to 'Shubh Mangal Saavdhan' to her portrayal of a strong-willed woman in 'Toilet Ek Prem Katha'.

The actress then starred in Netflix's short film 'Lust Stories' which was a sequel to 'Bombay Talkies' (2013). 'Lust Stories', which is a four-part film each directed by different filmmakers, explores love, sex and relationships in modern India. The film garnered much love and appreciation and Bhumi's refined performance of a househelp who has an affair with the flat owner was accepted with open arms. The actress, however, recently revealed that doing 'Lust Stories' was a challenge for her.

During a media interaction, while talking about how 'Lust Stories' came her way, Bhumi revealed,

"'Lust Stories' came to me before 'Toilet Ek Prem Katha' or 'Shubh Mangal Savdhaan' released and I think Zoya is phenomenal and I have loved all her films. Apart from that, the only thing I connect with is the story, I read the story, I told her (Zoya) I want to do this. I love challenging myself and doing 'Lust Stories' was definitely a challenge for me."

Platforms like Netflix have paved way for refreshingly new offbeat content in India.  Bhumi, in an exclusive interview to Republic TV, said that she believes the audience is ready for such content. The actress said, "We are a very young country. Most of our population comprises of young minds and we the people who are changing things and we as a society are definitely evolving."

Pointing out the positive change in the kinds of films being produced recently, Bhumi said, "If you even look at the trajectory of films that have come out in the last few years, we are really hitting the nail on the head with some really hard-hitting subjects of different kinds so I think we as a society are extremely ready and if there are any people who feel that whatever is happening is inappropriate, I'm sure we together can change the way they think."

Bhumi Pednekar is all set to feature in the Karan Johar directorial multi-starrer film 'Takht'. The film starring Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and also Janhvi Kapoor is slated for a 2020 release.
