Bhumi Pednekar responds to Narendra Modi's tweet urging the actor to spread voter awareness.

Ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached out to several celebrities across domains urging them to encourage the voters of India to come out and execute their rights. In a series of Tweets, he addressed several A-listers from the sports and entertainment industry asking them to create voter awareness. Taking a reference from Bhumi Pednekar's film 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha' and 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha', the Prime Minister tagged the actress along with Ayushmann Khurrana and Akshay Kumar, and urged the actors saying: "Thoda Dum Lagaiye aur Voting ko Ek Superhit Katha banaiye."

Bhumi Pednekar immediately responded to PM Modi's tweet and wrote: "To all the citizens of this great democracy...each one of us have the right to vote, a power that comes with great responsibility. And each one of us must become a part of shaping the future of our country. Go vote everyone!"

Meanwhile, apart from this, PM Narendra Modi also shared 'Four requests for Democracy' wherein he appealed to the eligible young voters to register for voting and encouraged people to spread awareness about the importance of voting in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. 

This comes barely four weeks ahead of the first phase of the Lok Sabha election, scheduled on April 11. The Election Commission on Sunday announced the dates of General Elections 2019. The nation will go into polls in seven phases beginning from April 11 till May 19. The counting of votes for all the states is scheduled to take place on May 23.

On Sunday, PM Modi had extended congratulatory message to the Election Commission and to the voters of the nation who are going to elect its new government. In a series of tweets, PM Modi had urged the Indians to enrich the Lok Sabha election with their active participation, adding that the festival of democracy - elections - are here.
