'English Vinglish’ actor Sujata Kumar passed away on Sunday night, August 19, at the age of 53. The actor was battling cancer and her condition worsened on Sunday. The actress is best known for her portrayal of Sridevi’s elder sister Manu in Gauri Shinde’s ‘English Vinglish'.
Talking to a news agency, Sujata’s family members informed that she was suffering from the fourth stage of metastatic cancer(metastasis) and was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai.
Sujata Kumar’s sister actor Suchitra Krishnamoorthi took to Twitter to share the news of the demise of her sister. "Our beloved Sujata Kumar has passed away and moved on to a better place leaving us with an unimaginable void. She left us an hour ago at 11.26 pm on the 19th of August 2018... Life can never be the same again..." she tweeted.
In another tweet, which she later deleted, Krishnamoorthi said the funeral will take place at the Juhu crematorium in Vile Parle today. A day before her demise on August 18, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi had posted a heartwarming tweet, requesting people to pray for her recovery.
Actress Sujata has been a part of several films including films like Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer 'Gori Tere Pyar Mein', Hrithik Roshan-Aishwarya Rai starrer 'Guzaarish' and Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor starrer 'Raanjhanaa'. She has also been a part of the several Television shows and commercial. She played a negative character in Anil Kapoor starrer thriller series '24' in 2013.
