Shahid Kapoor who is essaying the role of an angry, vengeful man in his latest release 'Kabir Singh' has earned praises for his flawless portrayal of the role.

The film that hit theatres on June 21 left the audience debating over the misogynistic treatment of the film. Despite facing criticism from specific audiences, Kabir Singh holds the box-office strong.

Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter and wrote: "#KabirSingh is firing on all cylinders at the BO... Metros, mass belt, Tier-2, Tier-3 cities - #KabirSingh wave grips the nation... Emerges Shahid Kapoor’s highest grosser in 3 days [after #Padmaavat]... Fri 20.21 cr, Sat 22.71 cr, Sun 27.91 cr. Total: ₹ 70.83 cr. India biz."

Kabir Singh has smashed the record of Karan Johar's 'Kalank' in three days of its release. This is Shahid Kapoor's biggest box-office opener and the fifth biggest opener of 2019 after 'Bharat', 'Kesari', 'Kalank' and 'Gully Boy'. It is Kiara Advani's second biggest opener after 'MS Dhoni'.

'Kabir Singh' which is the Hindi remake of the Telugu hit 'Arjun Reddy', has been helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani, Krishan Kumar and Ashwin Varde.
