He has acted in several blockbuster movies and has also starred in many South Indian films. Many of his movies have been remade in Tamil or Telugu languages. 1) Chahe Koi Mujhe Junglee Kahe (Junglee)

Junglee released in 1961 was a super hit film with box office earning of approximately ₹ 1,75,00,000. It is a light-hearted musical directed and produced by Subodh Mukherjee. The songs Chahe Koi Mujhe Junglee Kahe became very popular after the film was released. Owing to its groovy beats and funky background score. Mohammed Rafi’s playback combined with Shammi Ji’s phenomenal acting, the song quickly became a sensation.

2) Yeh Chand Sa Roshan Chehra (Kashmir Ki Kali)

Kashmir Ki Kali, 1964, directed by Shakti Samanta became the sixth highest-grossing film of the year. Yeh Chand Sa Roshan Chehra is sung by none other than Mohammed Rafi. It is picturised on Sharmila Tagore who made her debut through this film and Shammi Kapoor. The song is shot in a beautiful shikara with a backdrop of Kashmir’s mountains and has a nice beat to it.

3) Aaja Aaja Mein Hoon Pyar Tera (Teesri Manzil)

Teesri Manzil is an Indian thriller and musical that is well known for its foot-tapping music and songs. Shammi Kapoor in this film plays the role of a drummer named Rocky. Teesri Manzil is considered to be R D Burman’s greatest work. All the songs in this movie are sung by the infamous singer, Mohammed Rafi. It has some of the best party hits like, O haseena ZulfonwaliDeewana Mujhsa Nahi and O mere Sona re.

4) Baar Baar Dekho (China Town)

China Town released in 1962, was directed by Shakti Samanta and is a black and white film in which Shammi Kapoor plays a double role. He plays the role of a gangster as well as his look-alike. Baar Baar Dekho was sung by Mohammed Rafi and is played twice during the film. It is a party song even in the film, Shammi Ji is shown performing on the song at a party.

5) Aaj Kal Tere Mere Pyar ke Charche (Brahmachari)

Brahmachari, 1968, was directed by Bhappi Sonie. The film won several awards including the Filmfare award. The songs in the movie are sung by Mohammed Rafi, but the song Aaj Kal Tere Mere Pyar Ke Charche became the highlight of the movie. This song is believed to be an underdog as its tune was rejected, earlier. However, when Shammi Kapoor heard the song, he loved it so much that he asked the director Bhappi Sonie to include it in the movie. The song was then sung by Suman Kalyanpur and Mohammed Rafi.
