Tanushree Dutta-Nana Patekar's row sees a new day of light with things taking its legal course this week. The actress, who filed a police complaint on October 6 at Oshiwara, registered an FIR under section 354, 354(A), section 34 and section 509 of IPC (Indian Penal Code) against Nana Patekar, Ganesh Acharya, Samee Siddiqui, Rakesh Sarang and MNS party workers.
While veteran actor Nana is holding a press conference on October 8, Republic TV exclusively got in touch with Tanushree's advocate Nitin Satpute, who revealed the consequences these industry insiders will have to go through once the FIR is registered.
"If the FIR is registered, the case is registered, police will take action. He might be arrested also. The punishment is 10 years imprisonment for this offence," he said.
Recalling the complaint Tanushree filed back in 2008, the actress was quoted sharing her experience on our flagship show 'Nation Wants To Know' with Republic TV Editor-In-Chief Arnab Goswami. "So that night after the attack and mob lynching finished, we were all shaken up. After the cops rescued us, they took us to the police station and where the cop was taking my complaint, I narrated everything to him and I filed an FIR. I would never have imagined in my wildest dreams that my day would end like this. I was shaken up for years after that but I had gone to the cops station and told him everything that happened and I saw this other guy writing it down. I said everything from my end, and I remember the cop asking me if I wanted to put Nana Patekar's name in the complaint and that pissed me off. The police told me that my name will also be included and I'll have to keep coming to the police station and the court, to which I said, I have given everything from my end now you have to investigate. He then made me sign it and I went home."
When we asked the Nitin what happened to the complaint filed back in 2008, he shared that he will be taking legal action against the police officer who filed the FIR back then since he wrote it in Marathi and Tanushree being Bengali couldn't understand what was written on the official papers.
As both the parties gear up for the legal battle, many Bollywood celebrities are now coming forward to share their own #MeToo moment. One of them being Kangana Ranaut, who called out Vikas Bahl of sexual harassment.
