Call him fitness guru or quintessential Bollywood actor but Milind Soman is happy to don any hat and add feathers of success to it. The actor, who spoke at length about building personal brand and how to sustain it shed light on how he plans businesses around the interests he wants for himself to sustain during the EdelGive Foundation's EDGE 2018 event.
In an exclusive chat with Republic TV, the winner of 'Ironman' triathlon, confessed that he did not suffer a #MeToo incident but knows that it is prevalent in the fashion industry. When asked about if he experienced an uncomfortable encounter himself, he said, "Not really because when I started modeling, of course everybody today talks about casting couch concept in films and fashion as well but when I started, fashion was such a new industry that all of us were starting out together so there was no position of power or something like that could encourage this kind of an incident. For me, I was never subjected to this but I know it exists because people talk to me about it."
He further went on to talk about how even men face similar situations and that it needs to be brought to light. Speaking about the survivors breaking their silence, he said, "I think it's very good. It is definitely something which is needed. Women and even men, in the fashion industry I would say that even men need to come out and talk about it because when we talk about the predatory aspect of the people in power, it is something that needs more awareness. And people in power need to be aware. Sometimes people in power don't even realise that it's a wrong thing. They are so taken up by the position they are in that they think it is acceptable. Of course, it is not and that is why this needs to be spoken about."
Milind, whose last commercial film was Saif Ali Khan starrer 'Chef', is happily married and celebrated his six months anniversary just a few days back. Take a look at his post below:
