Rani Mukerji, who shared a great camaraderie with late actress Sridevi, opened up exclusively to Republic after the legendary actress' untimely death left a painful void. When asked about how she will remember Sridevi, Rani said,

"For me Sri ji is not just an icon, she was everything to me. I have been watching her films since childhood and in a way she has been my teacher because I have seen her films and learnt a lot. For me it’s a huge personal loss because she was a great person. We shared a great rapport and I will miss her because of the love we shared for each other. So this is the biggest truth of one's life which is very hard to digest and accept but we have no choice but to accept it."

Rani, who is a doting mother of daughter Adira, opened up about how difficult it was for her to get back to work post motherhood.

"It was very tough but I think the whole fun of it all is that in life things don't come easy to you. It has to be tough because that makes you a much more determined, focused, and enterprising person. Those are things that should be taken positively,” the actress said.

Rani has taken it in her stride when it comes to striking a balance between her roles on and off screen.

"I have learned that shooting can be achieved in 5 to 6 hours. You don't need 12 hours of the shoot to finish a movie. I shot for 'Hichki' for just 5 to 6 hours daily. We finished the film in 38 days flat,” Rani said.
