EXCLUSIVE | Tanushree Dutta #MeToo Row: CINTAA Records Statement With Police, Nana Patekar And Others To Follow Suit

Speaking exclusively to Republic TV, Tanushree's advocate Nitin Satpute revealed that Nana along with the others will get jailed once police has supporting evidence.

The #MeToo movement in the Indian film industry has been a result of Tanushree Dutta's allegations on veteran actor Nana Patekar that resurfaced a few weeks back. The incident that happened on the sets of 'Horn Ok Pleassss' has taken the nation by storm and has let many other survivors come out in the open to share their stories.

Tanushree, who filed a police complaint had her FIR lodged against Nana Patekar, director Rakesh Sarang, producer Samee Siddiqui and choreographer Ganesh Acharya under Section 354 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on October 10. As Mumbai police commenced their investigation, members of CINTAA have already registered their statement which will be followed by two-three witnesses. Speaking exclusively to Republic TV, Tanushree's advocate Nitin Satpute revealed that Nana along with the others will get jailed once police has supporting evidence. 

"After FIR, CINTAA has recorded their statement and we are waiting for the witnesses' statement post that Nana and others have to come and record theirs. Once police has supporting evidence, Nana, Rakesh, Samee and Ganesh will be jailed," he said.

Meanwhile, Nana Patekar has denied the allegations and has responded to the complaint filed by the actress with the Cine and Television Artistes’ Association (CINTAA), he said the allegations are 'motivated' and 'malicious'. Speaking about the allegations in an exclusive blog, Tanushree fired an open letter. Read details here: 

"This is making people uncomfortable, uneasy, agitated because the deep-seated misogynistic programming of our society has conditioned it to shove it deep in our subconscious. This dialogue is bringing it out. Smear campaigns and violent outbursts are part of the same persecution machinery. It's an awareness campaign and a process to induce personal responsibility for one's own actions. Public figures getting away sends a very wrong message in a society that is crumbling from the inside. These are sensitive times...A sensitive, intelligent and enlightened approach is needed to look at it."
