EXCLUSIVE: Tanushree Dutta Slaps Defamation Case For ₹ 10 Crore Against Rakhi Sawant

Indian film industry's ongoing #MeToo movement has been a result of Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta's allegations on veteran actor Nana Patekar that resurfaced as she returned from the States to Mumbai for a holiday. The actress, who shared her story alleging that Nana sexually harassed her during the shoot of a song from 'Horn Ok Pleassss', has filed a police complaint and is taking the legal route to address this issue.

In the recent state of affairs, Tanushree Dutta has filed a defamation case on Rakhi Sawant for ₹ 10 crore. Advocate Nitin Satpute exclusively spoke to Republic TV about the case saying, "We have filed a criminal and civil defamation case against Rakhi Sawant for maligning my client's character and image." He further added that if she fails to revert, she will be punished for two years or fine or both. 

In 2008, post Tanushree's departure from the project, Rakhi stepped in her shoes and finished the special number which featured in the film when it released. Talking recently to Republic TV, Rakhi accused Tanushree of seeking publicity. In a deplorable attack, Rakhi Sawant resorted to victim shaming, called the actress a ‘liar’ and said that the allegations against Nana Patekar are ‘cooked up stories’. 

"These are fake allegations on Nana Patekar ji and Ganesh Acharya. Tanushree Dutta has gone mad. She was in a coma for 10 years. She has just woke up after a coma of 10 years. I don't like saying such things about a woman. I respect womens. but this Tanushree Dutta who has returned from America after 10 years is vomitted such things because she has exhausted all the money from her bank account and has no work, has nothing and is blaming Nana Patekar ji. She is talking about the past which has nothing to do with the incident. Nothing of this sort ever happened. If something like this would have happened..have you seen my song with Nana Patekar... have you seen it... where is that song...show that song. I have done a song, he did not even touch me a little," said Sawant. (sic)

Meanwhile, Nana Patekar has responded to the complaint filed by Tanushree with the Cine and Television Artistes’ Association (CINTAA), calling her claims 'motivated' and 'malicious'.
