In an exclusive interview on Court Martial on Republic Bharat with Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami, the actress said that despite the numerous hurdles on the movie, she decided to direct the movie without charging a single penny because she felt it was a movie for the society. The ‘Fashion’ star added she was vindicated in the manner the audience has positively reacted to it.

Kangana said, “The film is above all these. Because when the film was stalled, when the movie was not going to be made, I decided to direct the movie. I directed the movie and delivered the first copy and now it is being shown in the theatres. What others are saying is irrelevant. It has reached the audiences and they are praising it. However, is it only our duty?”

The actress had also said, "If you see the normal films that come in the industry, we are artistes, most of the times, and as artistes we keep doing one film after another. However, several times, films are such that they are for the society. Like when I directed the film, I didn’t charge a single penny. I don’t keep the same expectation from every film that people appreciate it and that we try to bring it to them.”

'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' has been riddled with controversies ever since the film released. The ongoing conflict between Kangana Ranaut and director Krish owing to the credits for the film is making the headlines lately.

Krish has accused Kangana of ‘hijacking’ the movie after she took over the directorial reins of the movie from him. He dismissed the latter’s claims of shooting 70 per cent of the movie. The actress recently hit back at the director saying he ‘shouldn’t attack’ her over it and should’ve gone to the producer instead. She also asked him to prove his counter-claims.

One of the actresses, Mishti Chakravarty also slammed the actor-director for 'chopping' her role off. Previously, Sonu Sood had also left the movie over differences with Kangana.
