Kangana Ranaut, who has led as well as directed major chunks of 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi', is currently basking in the film's success. The film had opened to mostly positive reviews, but also came with a fair share of controversies. One of them was Mishti Chakraborty, who played Kashibai in the film, alleging that her portions were majorly altered.
Now, Kangana opens up about it as a director. In an exclusive interview on Court Martial on Republic Bharat with Arnab Goswami, the actress said, "The producer has produced the film. He has invested money on me that she is our director, she is taking charge, who are you to ask me what should I do with my film? And who are these small actors, who are saying keep our role? Who is she?"
Well, it is clear from her statement that Kangana has no qualms about the decisions she has made as the film's director. Once again, this particular statement from her is for Mishti, who created a stir with her claims mentioned above. However, another 'Manikarnika' co-star, famous TV actress Ankita Lokhande had come out to openly defend Kangana.
The actress, who played the role of Jhalkaribai in the film said that she will always guard her Rani Lakshmibai (Kangana) because she has proved herself to be a queen. She further stated that she has no such grievances against Kangana and said she has loved her experience working with her. In fact, Ankita said that it was Kangana who shot major portions of her scenes and that she has immense respect for her because of that.
Well, controversy or not, 'Manikarnika' has definitely tasted commercial success, to say the least. Opening on Republic Day along with Nawazuddin Siddiqui's 'Thackeray', the film defeated all competition and went on to create havoc at the box officer. As of Sunday, the film is expected to cross Rs 75 crore mark, which will be an incredible feat since the historical epic just came out a week ago.
