  • Farhan Akhtar points out at a glaring mistake in a West Bengal school textbook
  • The actor who portrayed Milkha Singh in 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' is on a text book

Film actors often portray real-life characters in the film bringing them to life on screen. Of recent, Bollywood has been experimenting with biographical films and actors are trying their best to fit into the character and look like the person they are playing. In 2013, actor Farhan Akhtar had played legendary Indian athlete Milkha Singh in the biographical film 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', which was a blockbuster film.

A West Bengal school textbook publisher seems to have been way too convinced with Farhan Akhtar’s portrayal of Milkha Singh in ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’. The textbook contains the image of Farhan Akhtar from the film instead of the living legend Milkha Singh.

The 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' actor took notice of this and pointed out the mistake. He wrote, "To the Minister of School Education, West Bengal. There is a glaring error with the image used in one of the school textbooks to depict Milkha Singh-Ji. Could you please request the publisher to recall and replace this book? Sincerely. @derekobrienmp"

Farhan Akhtar tagged Derek O'Brien who is an Indian politician and is very active when it comes to education. Derek thanked Farhan for pointing it out and he even tweeted about the mistake. He found out that the textbook is from a private publication and they are trying to track down the publishers.

The 2013 biographical sports drama film directed by Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra was based on the life of the Indian athlete Milkha Singh. The film was inspired by the autobiographical book 'The Race of my life' which was penned by Singh and his daughter Sonia Sanwalka. The film traces Milkha Singh's childhood, the impact of India's partition on him and his life post-partition and to the time he finishes fourth at the 1960 Summer Olympic.
