The date of January 25 marks a special significance for B-town as two big films are coming out today. One is the Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer 'Thackeray' and the other is Kangana Ranaut's 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi'. The former has had a great amount of hype as well as the controversy surrounding it, much like the real-life leader it is based on. Now, the first review of the film is out from a member of the film fraternity.
Director Shoojit Sircar who is known for acclaimed films like 'Vicky Donor', 'Madras Cafe', 'Pink!' and 'October' took to Twitter the Abhijit Panse directorial. Well, fans of Nawaz and the late Shiv Sena supremo can rejoice for it is quite positive. Shoojit said that the film 'Thackeray' is the journey of a man from an artist to a powerful political leader. Calling the film 'bold and powerful', he called Nawaz's performance as one of the finest aspects of the film.
Calling the versatile actor as one of Bollywood's best, he praised him to high heavens as he said that he roars like a tiger on screen, which is the highest praise he can receive for it is how Bal Thackeray is remembered as to this day. Well, with this review in favour of the Abhijit Panse directorial, things are looking pretty positive for the makers of 'Thackeray'.
Based on the life of the late Shiv Sena founder, the film is a two-part series that will extensively cover the life of the famous political figure. It has been revealed that it is a no makeup film and that with the exception of Nawaz, no other artist has used makeup or prosthetics for this project. Other than the 'Petta' actor, the film also stars Amrita Rao as Meenatai Thackeray and Vishal Sudarshanwar as Raj Thackeray.
