An FIR was filed against Alok Nath at the Oshiwara Police station under the Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (rape) on Wednesday

After being expelled from the CINTAA pending investigation against the allegations against him, actor Alok Nath has more trouble incoming after an FIR was filed against him at the Oshiwara Police station under the Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (rape) on Wednesday. The FIR has been filed by Vinta Nanda, who was the first woman to come out and speak out against the actor in the wake of the #MeToo movement which took the country by storm. 

‘90s TV producer-director Vinta Nanda had accused Nath of raping her close to twenty years ago. She even filed a police complaint against him and approached the National Commission For Women to get justice. Vinta had also written to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting help in the matter. Nath had meanwhile lodged a defamation suit against Nanda later on.

Earlier this month, Alok Nath was removed by the CINTAA from its membership, weeks after h after the actor had rejected the allegations filed by Vinta against him. CINTAA arrived at the decision after the veteran actor failed to appear before the executive committee on Monday, 12 November. Sr Joint Secretary, Committee of Cine&TV Artistes' Association, Amit Behl also stated that they will permanently expel him if he fails to make an appearance at the Annual General Meeting.

After Vinta Nanda, Sandhya Mridul had also joined the #MeToo wave against him, accusing Nath of trying to force himself on her while shooting for a TV show many years ago. Even ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ actor Deepika Amin had called him an ‘obnoxious drunkard who harasses women.‘ Alia Bhatt’s mother, actor Soni Razdan said she had seen him behave in a ‘lecherous’ manner after he consumed alcohol.
