  • Here are five Bollywood songs which we bet you did not know derive their origins from Hollywood numbers

With each passing year, Bollywood is constantly evolving. While some Bollywood directors are making the traditional feature-length original films that we are all used to, others have caught on to the biopic trend, while some are even moving their storytelling to new formats like the all-conquering mini-series, Netflix's Sacred Games being a prominent example. Some have also taken to remaking Hollywood success stories, a trend that has been evident in Bollywood songs for a number of years. So, here are five such Bollywood songs which we bet you did not know derive their origin from Hollywood:

1) 'Mehbooba' From 'Sholay' (1975)

Who can forget Helen's famous belly dance in one of the blockbuster songs, 'Mehbooba' of the Ramesh Sippy magnum opus of the 70's 'Sholay'? This song is still remembered by fans and we get goosebumps whenever we hear this song. But do you know? the music of this song is similar to popular Greek singer Demis Roussos's song 'Say You Love Me' (1974).

2. 'Maine Pyaar Kiya' title track (1989)

The title track of one of the hit films of all time 'Maine Pyaar Kiya', which marked the debut of superstar Salman Khan and Bhagyashree, was copied from American singer Stevie Wonder's 1984 track 'I just called to say I love you'.

3) 'Koi Mil Gaya' from 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'( 1998)

Whenever we reminisce about our college days, this song from Karan Johar's classic movie is the first song that comes to our mind. The song is yet again similar to one of the hit songs of 1978, 'Take That Look Off Your Face'. This song was composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber along with lyricist Don Black. The Hindi song was picturized on the lead cast of the film, Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukherjee, and Kajol.

4) 'Hare Krishna Hare Ram' from 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' (2007)

Remeber Akshay Kumar's famous dance in the song 'Hare Krishna Hare Ram' from his horror comedy 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa'? Well, the song is again a remake of a popular track tilted 'My Lecon' of a South Korean music band named 'JTL'.

5) 'Pehli Nazar Mein' from 'Race' (2008)

This soulful track of Abbas Mastan's thriller movie 'Race' was sung by Atif Aslam but this song is also a copy of a Korean song 'Sarang Hae Yo' by Kim Hyung Sup. 'Pehli Nazar' was composed by Pritam.
